Suto: RFID Production Tracking for Garment Factories
Concept: designed, not yet built
Key Features
- RFID bundle tags from cutting to finishing
- Hourly output against target, line by line
- Work in progress and bottleneck view
- Offline buffering on every reader
- Bundle history for buyer compliance audits
- Supervisor alerts on the shop floor
How It Would Work
- Tag Cutting prints a reusable RFID tag for each bundle, linked to its style, size, colour and order.
- Scan Readers at each line's input and output scan bundles as they pass. The ESP32 behind each reader timestamps the scan and keeps it until the server confirms it.
- Collect A small service on the factory network receives scans over MQTT, removes duplicates and writes them to MySQL.
- Show Floor screens and office dashboards show hourly output, efficiency and work in progress per line, refreshed every few seconds.
Project Overview
A garment production tracking system NetJet Labs has designed for Bangladesh's RMG factories. Every cutting bundle carries an RFID tag, readers on each sewing line record it as it moves, and supervisors see output, line efficiency and work in progress live instead of at the end of the shift. It is a concept: designed, not yet built.
Technologies & Expertise
The Challenge
Many garment lines still count output by hand, on paper or in a spreadsheet filled in at the end of each hour or shift. By the time a supervisor sees that a line is behind target or that a bottleneck has formed, the time to fix it has passed, and proving bundle-level traceability to a buyer is slow work.
Our Solution
ESP32 controllers with UHF RFID readers at each line's input and output scan bundle tags as they pass, keep every scan until the server confirms it, and send it over MQTT to a PHP and MySQL service on the factory network. Dashboards on the floor and in the office show output against target per line and hour, and each bundle's history is kept for buyer audits.
